Sharing My Blog Reader With My Blog Readers

Thanks for checking out this post and finding out a little more about me. There's been an update posted, if you'd like to see what's been inspiring me lately. Sharing My Blog Reader Update #1 can be found here.

Reading is an integral part in how I acquire information and new perspectives. Give me a link to an enlightening or inspiring read on the net and you are held in high esteem by me. Now and again, though, I declutter my blog reader because, even though I love to add all of the interesting new blogs I come across, I don't have time to page through clutter or read things that don't interest me any longer. Learning to edit my life has been one of the most positive things I have ever done for myself.
  • Decluttering my stuff helped me to stop having a scarcity outlook.
  • Decluttering my mind has helped me to move forward and gain much perspective.
  • Decluttering my email inbox, blog reader and misc subscriptions has helped to keep me from a cycle of procrastination/overwhelmed/guilt, which led to distancing myself (i.e. deleting it all...with a lot of guilt attached for the loss of the information I never got to read) and then slowly reconnecting (reading the new stuff religiously for awhile) and then letting it get away from me again, which led to more guilt.
Now, this is not to say that I unsubscribe after one post that doesn't interest me. I am a very loyal person, actually. I believe that it's about balance. Every thing, every person, etc. has a time period of when it needs to be in your life. Holding it past that time leads to much anxiety. Usually, I feel when it is time for me to clear the clutter. Sometimes it's just a feeling of overwhelm, which leads to avoidance of that which is causing it. Sometimes it's a feeling of trying to hurry through that which I'm doing because there is just so much to do. Sometimes it's just because I'm in a great state of positivity.

Right now, I am excited to see what awaits me each day in my blog reader again, as it's been edited and suits me very well right now. I do appreciate this short-lived moment and will enjoy it to its fullest.

So, if you'd like to see what's going to enlighten and inspire me for the next while, check out these awesome blogs.

Suzanne, I'm honored to be on your new finds list! I know how you feel. Right now I have a list of 97 blogs I comment on. Are you freaking kidding me? There is so much I want to absorb but I have not time. I declutter my mind and list and then it grows right back.

Your blog is definitely mention worthy because you write about areas of our lives where we can focus on taking care of ourselves from the inside out.

As you said so well on "Positive vs Negative Decisions":
The difference between the lives of people who are primarily making positive decisions (choosing pleasure) and those who are making negative decisions (avoiding pain) is the like the difference between night and day. The former is a thriving life and the latter is merely a surviving life.

If your decisions are mostly about avoiding or reducing pain instead of increasing pleasure, then you are definitely not where you want and need to be. Maximizing positive decisions is something I intend to be very conscious about in the future.

As I mentioned in the post, I also know the cycle of "It's too much!!" recognition (OK, overload ;-), then editing, and repeat. The difference between my old self and my current self? I have adapted to the notion of it being a never-ending cycle for me and use it to enhance my life.

When I felt overwhelmed before, it preyed on me and sucked me down the drain. Now when I feel overwhelmed, I get excited and use the motivation to edit, edit and refine just a bit more. When I'm done, the feeling of accomplishment and the lightened heart/mind feel amazing! The second best part is that it does not fade away quickly...I get to enjoy the benefits of it extended over time (in this case, it's every day when I view my reader ;-). It's a feeling that never gets old I'll tell ya. :-D

Find your way to create that feeling and you'll be excited to do the editing again and again. A side benefit is that you will eagerly add more blogs and gain even more information. Why? Because you will not have a nagging fear of overwhelm holding you back. You will know that they'll provide value or you will edit them out of your life. No worries. ;-)

The html in my post above didn't come across. I wouldn't want some of Stephen's awesome insight to mistakenly be credited to me so I just want to provide the clarification...All of the following is from Stephen at The Rat Race Trap (www.ratracetrap.com).

You're very welcome, Dani. Kind of a cool ego boost...even if my new blog has only this many < > readers. ;-)

Seriously, though, your blog is the only "mindfulness" type niche blog that I have allowed to influence me Every Day. Usually, I keep that for time (and mood) permitting. As J.D. said "you 'write from the heart'...There’s a lot of value in that." Reading your words is like reading a friend's blog (the Every Day folder contains 2 of those actually) and I thank you for sharing your insight and yourself with all of us via Positively Present. :-)

BTW, I thought your One-Liner Super Hero Power (http://tinyurl.com/superheropower) should be:

Hmm, weird. There was no emphasis showing up when I posted earlier and now there is. Oh well. Hopefully you read his words twice and they got to sink in a bit deeper. ;-)

Thank you. I've just added your blog to my blogroll! Anyway you are right and it's an insight that I hadn't pondered before. Keep the "I'm going to edit" constantly in mind and your free! I have been treating that kind of activity as a once in a while thing and I need to make it a mindset that's there all the time. Edit all the time. Way to go Suzanne!

It will take time for it to grow from an event that only happens because of a negative effect (like overload) but for many of us slower equates to being lasting. If you allow editing to become stronger in your life and, most especially, as a tool you use to take care of you, it will! Less really is more. :-)

Thank you for much for adding me to your blogroll and sharing Taking Care Of You with your readers!
